They were watchtowers, places of defense, high above the fray, offering a clear view and a safe haven from enemies. They weren't just flimsy shelters; they were built to withstand sieges, to endure the fiercest attacks.
Now, imagine that kind of security, but not in a physical structure. This verse tells us that the name of the Lord is our fortified tower. It's not just a word or a label; it represents His very character, His power, His presence, His promises, and His unwavering love for us. When we call upon His name, when we lean into who He is, we are running into that tower.
